Raymond F. Hofmann

Raymond F. Hofmann, 87 of Hyde Park, died January 20 at 10:20 p.m. in Reading Hospital where he had been since January 11.

He was the husband of Catherine M. (Sonsini) Hofmann.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John H. and Mary (Troop) Hofmann.

Hofmann was employed by Dana Corporation, Reading as a Maintenance Supervisor for 30 years retiring in December of 1979.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving during World War II in the 73rd Bomb Wing. Hofmann was a member of the World War II Memorial Society.

Hofmann was a graduate of the former St. Peter's Catholic High School, Reading.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Villa, Hyde Park.

He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus order # 6217, Spring Township serving as a Third Degree Knight.

Other survivors include two sons, Raymond F., Jr., Wernersville and William D., Waynesboro and two daughters, Mary Jo (Hofmann) Berthinet, Mohnton, Margaret M. (Hofmann) Kimmel, Ocean City, MD and Christina Hofmann, Reading. There are also 3 sisters, Gertrude (Hofmann) Miller, Reading, Mary (Hofmann) Langdon, Wyoming and Elizabeth (Hofmann) Stern, Wisconsin. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Villa Chapel. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. There is no public viewing. Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Villa 51 Seminary Avenue Reading PA 19605 or to Alzheimer's Association 225 North Michigan Avenue Floor 17 Chicago,IL 60601-7633.
