Raymond H. Spengler, Jr., 63, died May 16th at 6:00 am in his Muhlenberg residence after a lengthy illness.
He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Quenzer) Spengler.
Born in Fleetwood, he was a son of Fern (Kemmerer) Eschbach of Blandon and the late Raymond H. Spengler, Sr.
He was employed 32 years as a steel worker by Empire Steel, Laureldale, before retiring in 1996.
Spengler was a life member and past officer of Temple Fire Company, where he was also the president of the Temple Fire Company Beneficial Assocation.
He played varsity basketball at Fleetwood High School.
Spengler is also survived by a son, Barry J. Spengler of Temple and two step sons, Michael A. Barninger of Ocala, Florida and John R. Manning of Marysville, Pa.
Other survivors include a step daughter, Sharon A. Manning of New Bloomfield, Pa and four sisters, Rosemary F. (Spengler) Zimmerman of Leesport, Barbara A. (Spengler) Rowlands of Temple, Lori J. (Spengler) Erb of Temple and Lisa R. (Spengler) Brown of Blandon.
There are also two grandchildren, six step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Tammy D. (Spengler) Schaeffer, who died 1998 and his step-father, Woodrow Eschbach.
Memorial Services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Rev. Linda Elmer officiating. No public viewing. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Dorothy Spengler, 1029 Sage Avenue, Reading, Pa 19605.
