Raymond G. Caltagirone

Raymond G. Caltagirone, 69, of 3526 Earl Street, Laureldale, died of natural causes January 6th at 11:32 a.m. in the Emergency Room of St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was the husband of Veronica (Stabolepszy) Caltagirone.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Raymond and Stella (Julian) Caltagirone.

He was a 1951 graduate of Reading Catholic and a 1957 graduate of Kutztown University where he received a B.S. in Biology.

Caltagirone was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

He was a Army Veteran of Korea.

Caltagirone was employed by the Reading School District for 34 years, starting in 1959 as a Biology Teacher. He later was named to the directors position of the Audio-Visual Department and then Director of the Reading Public Museum. Caltagirone lasted worked as the Director of Public Relations before retiring in 1993 from the school district.

He was a past judge of the Reading Berks Science Fair.

Caltagirone is also survived by three daughters, Mary (Caltagirone) Rotkiske of Leesport, Veronica (Caltagirone) Strouse of Riverview Park and Joann (Caltagirone) Clark of Antioch, California.

He is also survived by two sons, Michael Caltagirone of Littleton, Colorado and Raymond Caltagirone of Denver, Colorado.

Other survivors include three sisters, Rose Caltagirone of Shillington, Dolores (Caltagirone) Myatt of Shillington and Patricia (Caltagirone) O'Brien of Lincoln Park and six brothers, Anthony of Exeter Township, Franklin of Shillington, John of Pennside, Thomas of Reading, Joseph of Robesonia, and James of Reading.

There are also ten grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10:30 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park. Viewing Thursday 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, Pa 19605.
