Raydel Verret

Raydel C. (Knechtle) Verret, 94, passed away on May 29, 2026 at the Reading Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of George J. Verret, Jr. They shared over 60 loving years together before his passing in 2024.

Born in Alsace Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Becker) Knechtle. Raydel graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1949 and Reading Business Institute in 1951. She worked as the Executive Secretary for Whitner’s Department Store, Reading, PA. She was known to be an excellent piano player and enjoyed sewing, Phillies games, watching game shows and listening to music. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and feeding the squirrels in her yard, including a pet squirrel named Whizzy.

Those cherishing her memory are her son, J. Scott Verret, husband of Lyn; her granddaughter, Brandy Miller, wife of Christopher; her great- grandchildren, Mason and Dawson Miner and their father, Michael Miner. Raydel was predeceased by her grandson, Bradley Verret.

All services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue League.
