Ray C. Lenhart

Ray C. Lenhart, 92, passed away on July 6, 2024, at the Reading Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Geraldine K. (Kaminski) Lenhart. They married on May 5, 1956, and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year.

Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Ray L. and Ruth (Zimmerman) Lenhart. Ray attended Reading High School, and graduated in 1950. Following graduation, he made the courageous decision to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed overseas and flew on bombing missions during the Korean War. After his safe return, he embarked on his banking career. Ray rose through the ranks of Reading Trust, Hamilton Bank and CoreStates Financial Corp, achieving the position of Senior Vice President in the commercial banking arena, followed by senior management roles in the retail lending and leasing areas. He retired from banking in 1993.

Throughout his life, he pursued many interests and hobbies outside of work. He spent many years sailing on the Chesapeake Bay with his family and also enjoyed skeet shooting, traveling and RVing with his wife after retirement. Ray was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his success in his career as a leader and a mentor and his unending zest for life.

In addition to Geraldine, Ray is survived by his children, Christopher Lenhart, and Kimberly (Lenhart) Hoechst and his grandson, Cameron Hoechst. He is predeceased by his brothers: Richard, Stewart, Theodore, and Clifford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Church 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19069. The viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 until the start of Mass. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
