Randolph M. Blatt

Randolph "Randy" M. Blatt, PE, 77, of Spring Twp., passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from a stroke. He was the husband of Jane L. (Brecker) Blatt. They married on May 8, 1971.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Randolph M. and Margaret A. (Martin) Blatt. Randy graduated from Mt. Penn High School in 1964 and Penn State University earning a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1968. He spent over 29 years as an electrical engineer for Met-Ed, was the owner of Performance Consulting, a trainer at former Keystone Technical Associates Inc. and an Adjunct Instructor and Trainer at RACC for many years. Randy also was a substitute teacher for the Wilson School District.

Randy was a Master Mason and 50-year member of Chandler Lodge No. 227 and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of Reading. He was a member of Rajah Shrine AAOMS and the West Lawn United Methodist Church. He served as president of the Reading Chapter of PA Society of Professional Engineers, was on the board of directors for the Green Valley Country Club, and was a board director for Berks Ballet. He was a Wilson School Board member for 17 years, serving as president for ten.

Randy loved his family, especially his grandsons, Andrew and Lucas, and believed in giving back to the community. He enjoyed all aspects of the school board and especially enjoyed the football games. He loved trains, traveling, music, sports cars, snow and had a sense of humor. Randy believed "God works in strange ways".

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Alexandria (Blatt) Hast, PhD, wife of Michael W. Hast, PhD, and two grandchildren, Lucas M. and Andrew J. Hast.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading with burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park to follow. The viewing will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at which time Masonic services will be held.
