Randall J. Socia

Randall J. Socia, 71, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was a loving father and husband, sharing nearly 50 years of marriage with Lauralee (Lyman) Socia.

Born in Burlington, VT, he was the son of the late Ion and Esther Pauline (Shepard) Socia. A graduate of Rutland High School Class of 1969, he worked for General Electric (GE) in Rutland, VT for 35 years as a machinist in their aviation division. After his retirement, he moved with his wife to Newmanstown, PA in 2008.

Randy was a loving and kind man, totally devoted to his family. He was a hard worker and loved life. Randy enjoyed cars, in particular his beloved 1968 Camaro, and going to car shows. Randy and Laurie recently restored a 1949 Ford pickup truck together. He took pride in and delighted in working on his yard. A man of great faith, the church held a special place in his heart where he served as an usher and greeter. In Rutland, he coached little league baseball and competed in a bowling league. Forever a fan of New England Sports teams (Red Sox, Patriots and Boston Bruins), he also grew an affinity for the Phillies.

Left to cherish his memory is wife, Laurie; son, Adam Socia and his wife, Olivia of Lower Gwynedd; son, Matthew Sociagrosch and his wife, Holly of Schenectady, NY; grandsons, Daniel and David Socia; and brothers: Lonnie, Wayne, Kelly, Colin and Darren.

Randall was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie; and daughter-in-law, Anna Socia.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023 a viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 321 North Church Street, Robesonia, PA, 19551. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. After Mass, there will be a luncheon held in the church hall at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Reading.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
