Ralph Richard Weitzel, 85, of Temple and formerly of Reading, died April 27, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township, where he had been a resident five days.
He was the husband of Betty Arlene (Fletcher) Weitzel, who died March 15, 2005.
Born January 15, 1925 in West Reading, he was a son of the late Joseph and Esther L. (Geiger) Weitzel.
Ralph attended West Reading High School.
He was employed with A. W. Alexander, West Reading, for 25 years; Boscov's Warehouse, Reading and Bowman's Hat Factory, Adamstown.
Ralph enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing and trains.
Surviving are four children: Thomas R., husband of Sharon S. (Hines) Weitzel of Ephrata; Richard A. Weitzel of Denver, CO; Nancy J. Weitzel and Karen J. Weitzel, both with whom he resided.
Other survivors include two granddaughters, Melissa J. Weitzel and Amanda S. (Weitzel) White and a great granddaughter, Chloe D. White.
Ralph was predeceased by four sisters and a brother.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
