Ralph R. "Manny" Kaufman Sr., 88, formerly of Broadcasting Road, Spring Township, died July 23 at 6:10 a.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where he had resided since Dec. 26.
He was taken to ManorCare from Columbia Cottage, Spring Township.
His wife, Kathryn M. (McDonough) Kaufman, died Nov. 8, 2000.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Howard and Helen (Weaver) Kaufman.
Kaufman was employed for 27 years as a brakeman by the Reading Co., retiring in 1980. He was also co-owner of the Boating Center, Muhlenberg Township, from 1953 to 1978.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Kaufman was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Surviving are a son, Ralph R. Jr., Birdsboro, and two daughters, Joan E. (Kaufman) Young, Sinking Spring, and Marcie (Kaufman) Bergstresser, Fleetwood.
Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
