Qew Yuen Hong, 71, of Wyomissing, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 04, 2010, in the Mifflin Center.
She was the wife of Chee Yuen Hong. They were married for 53 years.
Qew (Susie) was born in TaiShan, China in 1938 to the late Suen Loi Wong and Eng Yok Mee Wong.
Chee and Qew (Susie) owned and operated the Far East Restaurant, first on Penn Street, Reading then on Lancaster Pike, Shillington. They also owned an Oriental gift shop. In addition, they operated "The Pagoda" for 15 years. Susie also worked as a waitress at various restaurants and Bingo places. Susie was an avid Bingo player.
Her proudest moment was taking her entire family of 22 people to China in the summer of 2005 to visit her birthplace and provide the opportunity to her family to learn about her childhood memories, traditions and culture.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children: N.J. Edward Hong, husband of Joyce, N.K. James Hong, husband of Yung, MiLing Nancy Labricciosa, and OiLing Linda Kummerer.
She was blessed with twelve beautiful grandchildren: Jennifer, Kathryn, Muen Lee Eddie Hong,; Tiffany, Ariana, Ji-Ming Jason,Ji-Hann Nathan Hong; Marco, Gianni, and Dante Labricciosa; Alexandra and Mitchell Kummerer.
She is also survived by her brother, Chee Leung Wong and sister, Margie (Wong) Cartwright. She is predeceased by her brother Chee On Wong.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
