Phyllis J. Schappell, 86 of Hamburg died Sunday, November 2nd in Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg. She was the widow of Rowland "Rocky" E. Schappell who died September 9, 2008. Phyllis was born in Hamburg and was the daughter of the late Leon "Count" D. and Mamie M. (Schappell) Zweizig. Phyllis worked for many years as a floor lady for Burkey Mills and last worked in the Dietary Department at the Hamburg Center for eighteen years retiring in 1988. She was a member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle. She was a member of the Hamburg Historical Society and was a Hamburg and Berks County Genealogists for 40 year. A daughter, Kathleen A. wife of Melvin Edwards, Hamburg, survives Phyllis. A daughter-in-law, Susan K. Williamson, Hamburg and she was predeceased by a son, Harry F. Williamson on July 31st, 2014. She is survived by grandchildren, Aaron husband of Wendy Williamson, Charlotte, NC, Troy A. husband of Heather Williamson, Hamburg, Zena wife of Peter Lutz, Bernville and Melvin husband of Diane Edwards, Shoemakersville and step-grandchildren, Jayden and Spencer Krizel, Charlotte, NC. Additionally great-grandchildren, Owen, John, and Willow Williamson, Hamburg and Erica Lutz, Bernville and Hailie and Hunter Edwards, Shoemakersville survive her. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th St., Hamburg, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
