Phyllis L. Goodling

Phyllis L. Goodling, 88, passed away March 11, 2013 in her West Lawn residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband, Charles E. Goodling, died February 17, 2005.

Born in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Howard E. and Emma A. (Weary) Klucker.

She was a 1942 graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1946 graduate of Shippensburg Universty.

Phyllis was a first grade teacher for twenty two years, working in Hershey, Mechanicsburg and Wyomissing, retiring in 1981. She loved working with children and volunteered with various school districts after retirement.

She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Phyllis is survived by her two children: Stephen S., husband of Carol Goodling, Reading and Susan C. Goodling, with whom she resided in West Lawn. Also surviving are her three grandchildren: Joel, Shawn and Leah.

She was predeceased by her two sisters: Elizabeth Joyce Klucker and Dorothy Jane Mowrey.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Advent Lutheran Church, 16 Telford Ave., West Lawn, PA 19609. A viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in St. John's (Hain's) Church Cemetery, Wernersville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Advent Lutheran Church at the above address or the Salvation Army, P.O.
