Phyllis J. Grillo

Phyllis J. (Hopkins) Grillo, 93, formerly of West Reading, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at Berks Heim. She was the widow of Paul R. "Mike" Grillo, who passed in 2008; they had celebrated 57 years of marriage. Born August 19, 1925 in Reading, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Elias B. and Anna (Specht) Hopkins Koch, and step-daughter of the late LeRoy Koch.

A 1943 graduate of Reading High School, Phyllis also attended McCann School of Business. She worked for 42 years as a secretary at Wyomissing Corporation, retiring in 1987.

Phyllis is survived by a niece Patricia, wife of David Anderson, Highland, MD; a nephew Robert, husband of Kay Ohrin, Mechanicsburg, PA; a nephew Charles Hoffman, Pottstown, PA; a great niece Dawn Hoffman, wife of Jonathan Meyers, Phoenixville, PA; a great nephew Brian Hoffman, husband of Bobbianne, Stamford, CT; and a great niece Brenda Hoffman, Phoenixville, PA. Also surviving are cousins: Sylvia Davenport, Wyomissing, PA; Judith, wife of David Fair, Mohrsville, PA; Virginia, wife of Paul Shipper, Jr., Wyomissing, PA, as well as several other cousins, and her very good friends Nancy and Steven Erb, Absecon, NJ.

A Memorial Service will be held for Phyllis on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11:00 am, Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.

Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home.
