Phuong Nguyen

Phuong Ngoc Nguyen, 65, West Reading, died Wednesday at 7:20 a.m., in Reading hospital, where he had been a patient for one week.

He was the husband of An Thi Nguyen.

Born in Vietnam, he was the son of the late Do Van Nguyen and Hieu T Nguyen.

Phuong was with the Vietnamese Air Force Academy during the Vietnam War, and afterwards he immigrated to the United States, settling in the Reading area in Pennsylvania, where he worked for many years as an equipment operator at Giorgio Foods, retiring in 2000.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eldest daughter, Minh Chau and her husband Thomas Marihart, along with their sons Philip and William, of Lemoore California; his daughter, Bich Ngoc and her husband An Tran, along with their three children, Phu, Vy, and Nhung, of Reading. Other survivors include: his eldest brother, Lan, brother Tien, his sister Thu, and brothers Tuan and Thanh, all of Reading. He is also survived by three step-children: his step-son Lam Phan and his children Andy, Cody, Randy, Jenny, his step-daughter Chi Phan, and her daughters Heather, Sandra and Hanna, and his step-son Hai Phan and his daughter Lily.

A visitation and ceremony will be held from 5-8p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017, in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Another visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.
