Philip C. Klein

Philip C. Klein, Jr., 84, formerly of Wyomissing, passed away on April 10, 2024, at Pleasant View, Manheim.

He was the loving husband for 60 years to Susan Oakes (Shearer) Klein.

Born in Cleveland, OH, he was a son of the late Philip C., Sr. and Jean (Eisenbrown) Klein.

He was a graduate of Wyomissing High School '58 and Tufts University '63.

Phil was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army – 2nd Battalion, 15th Armor, 1st Cavalry Division

Phil was a Regional Sales Manager at Bethlehem Steel for close to 40 years.

Phil, known to family and friends as Pug, was a star athlete in high school and college. Excelling in Basketball, Baseball, Soccer and Track at both Wyomissing High School and Tufts University. Phil was a beloved husband and father and always put family first. He enjoyed being involved in his children's sports teams and regularly coached at the youth level. Phil's love for sports continued with his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them engage in all activities. Along with his love of sports, Phil was a huge history buff and especially loved studying the Civil War. He was also an avid gardener, bird watcher and a huge jazz enthusiast. Phil was not only a great father but an equally great grandfather. Phil adored his wife Susan for over 60 years and always put her first. Phil loved talking to people and being friendly with everyone he came in contact with. He was a truly great man and will be missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Katherine Oakes Ekberg (Michael), Cincinnati, OH; James Lamberson Klein (Tina), Charleston, SC; Philip C. Klein, III (Michelle), Nashville, TN; and Stephen Mengel Klein (Michelle), Manheim. Twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild and two siblings, Lucy Guthrie and Thomas Klein also survive him.

He was predeceased by two siblings, Jim and John.
