Peter Witycyak, Sr., 89, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 4, 2018 in his Cumru Township residence, with his loving family by his side. Born August 17, 1928 in Reading, he was a son of the late Steve and Catherine (Zuk) Witycyak. He was married to Dawn E. (Reasner) Witycyak, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage together.
A graduate of Reading Standard Evening High School, Pete served valiantly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following discharge, he received his toolmaker certification and worked for over 30 years at Lucent Technologies, retiring in 1990.
An avid hunter, Pete was a proud member of the NRA, and also belonged to the Mason Blue Lodge 549, the Telephone Pioneers of America, and the Hilltoppers Seniors Group. He was a faithful member of Robeson Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mohnton.
In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by a son Brett G. Witycyak, husband of Kimberly (Lorah), Bern Township; a brother Frank Cyktor, husband of Stephanie, Roselle, NJ; and a sister Millie DiBlasi, Linthicum Heights, MD. He was predeceased by a son Peter, Jr.; sisters Mary Steiger and Anna Trexler, and brothers George, Michael, and Stanley Witycyak.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00am at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with a viewing beginning at 9:30am in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow the Memorial Service in Pleasant View Cemetery.
