Peter Nicolls Goetz

Peter Nicolls Goetz, 73, died Sunday, August 16th at Fox Meadow Farm, his home for more than 50 years. Born in West Reading on December 23rd, 1941, he was the son of the late Ferdinand Karl "Bud" Goetz and Anne Hall Nicolls Goetz and brother of the late Robin Hiester Najarian. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Bonnie; daughter Elizabeth Scherber; daughter Holly and her husband Bruce Aronow; and son P. Taylor and his wife Pippa Goetz; his grandsons Alexander and Nicholas Aronow and P. Henley and Griffith Goetz; and nephews Frederick, Jacob (deceased), Michael, David and James Najarian.

Peter was a proud descendant of both the Muhlenberg and Nicolls families of Pennsylvania and had a lifelong interest in celebrating the heritage and preserving the legacy of both families. He was an alumnus of St. George's School, Lafayette College and Babson College and later served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Peter was a true gentleman who adored his family and their many dogs. He was also a deeply loyal and caring friend. An accomplished racecar driver, Peter went on to be a professional corporate pilot and airline flight safety instructor. He loved Fox Meadow Farm and the outdoors. He was an avid fly fisherman and upland bird hunter with a keen interest in land preservation. Peter was one of a kind.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 22nd at 11am at Christ Episcopal Church, 5th and Court Streets, Reading. A private burial will be held at Charles Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court Street, Reading PA, 19603, or to the Angel Fund at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County (610) 373-8830 x119. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of the arrangements.
