Peter W. Bender

Peter W. Bender, 73, of Cumru Township, passed away June 25, 2013 in the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

He was the husband of Tan'ok (Hwang) Bender, whom he married April 23rd, 1976.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jacob Paul and Elizabeth (Tribon) Bender.

Peter was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for the Air Force for 23 years, retiring in 1979. He later worked for Exide Technologies and SGI.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Bobby, husband of Melinda A. (Sweigart) Bender, Reading. Also surviving are his four siblings: Edmund Bender, Jacob Bender, Karen Kelly and Renate Walker. Three grandchildren: Lauren, Isabelle, Seth and one great-granddaughter Kira also survive him.

Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A visitation will be from 11 to 11:30 a.m in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
