Paula M. Jones

Paula M. "Polly" (McMichael) Jones, 73, died March 26, 2012 in her Flying Hills residence.

Born in West Reading, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Walsh) McMichael.

She was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School in 1956 and Penn State University where she received a bachelor's degree in Physical Education in 1960.

Polly was a stand out swimmer as a high school student. She won the Schuykill River Mile Swim three consecutive years and was dubbed "Queen" of the race by the Reading Eagle.

She taught Phys Ed in Sharon, PA and Northwest Elementary School, Reading.

Polly was co-owner of Industrial Abrasives Co., Reading for 30 years and responsible for catalog and on-line sales.

A natural born athlete, she was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Berkshire Country Club and Eastpointe Country CLub in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Polly was also a longtime member of the Jr. League of Reading. Her hobbies included knitting, playing cards, travel and spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Finnegan.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Polly is survived by three children, Lawrence I., husband of Betty Jones, Blandon; Sandra A., wife of Jeffrey A. Reese, Wyomissing; and Laura A., wife of Richard D. Bibb, Cumru Township.

Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Mackenzie M. Reese and Parker W. Reese, they were the joy of her life.

A Prayer Service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. A visitation will be held Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
