Paul James "Butch, Sarge" LaFaver, Jr., 69, of Temple, died April 8, 2013 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born October 12, 1943 in Fleetwood, he was a son of the late Paul James, Sr. and Esther May (Hinkle) LaFaver.

Paul has a career with the U.S. Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Combat as a medic. After retiring from the Army, Paul worked for Berks County Parks and Recreation in groundskeeping and maintenance for 20 years.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He could often be found at Kayla and Heather's sporting events and school activities.

Paul was a member of Ray A. Master Post #217, Topton.

He enjoyed going to Williamsport, PA, to watch the Little League World Series.

Surviving are his two sons: Paul R., husband of Lori A. LaFaver of Leesport and Jeffery D. LaFaver, husband of Kelly L. of Fredericksburg, PA.

In addition, surviving is his sister, Theresa M. Folk of Ontelaunee Township and his two grandchildren, Kayla and Heather.

Paul was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann (LaFaver) Heffelfinger who died in 1999.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 7-9 and a half hour prior to the service, in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Richmond Township.
