Paul L. Hasenauer

Paul L. Hasenauer, Sr., 99 of Hamburg died in the Laurel Center on August 19, 2013. He was the husband of Arlene (Kaisinger) Hasenauer. They were married on October 1, 1955 and celebrated 57 years of marriage this past October. Paul was born in Hamburg and was the son of the late Franklin and Ella (Mitchell) Hasenauer. He lived at the Bethany Orphans Home from 1919 to 1930. Paul worked for the Hamburg Broom Works for 54 years retiring in 1984. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 9 years. Paul was a member of the First United Church of Christ where he served as past Deacon and Elder. He was also a teacher and superintendent of the Junior Department and Men's Brotherhood at the First United Church of Christ, and was also a 50 year member of its choir. Paul was a lifetime member of the Union Fire Company # 1 of Hamburg and its beneficial, a charter member of the Hamburg Historical Society and a member of the Hamburg Senior Citizens. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by 1 daughter, Madeline widow of Stanley Wagner, Louisville, Ky., and 1 son, Gary husband of Nancy (Berger) Hasenauer, Hamburg, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Madeline (Casper) Hasenauer, 1 son, Paul Hasenauer, Jr. and a granddaughter, Jennifer Wagner. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Raymond, Elmer, and Franklin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 AM in the First United Church of Christ, 76 S. 3rd Street, Hamburg, PA. 19526. A viewing will be held in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM. to 11:00 AM. The Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
