Paul Edward Weber, 97, of Temple, died September 19, 2012 in Manor Care Health Services, Spring Township.
He was married May 30, 1943 to Ruth M. (Trout) Weber, who died September 13, 2005.
Born May 6, 1915 in Reading, PA he was the son of the late Lewis and Elizabeth (Ribble) Weber.
Paul was a 1933 graduate of Shillington High School.
He was enlisted in the US Army, served his designated time and was discharged December 6, 1941. The next day, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and Paul was immediately called to return to active service.
Paul became a member of Company K, 520th Quartermaster Truck Regiment. Following Company K, he was attached to the 3rd Army, 4010 Truck Company stationed in France, as part of a supply operation. The operation became part of the Red Ball Express, a massive convoy system created by the Allies to transport food, ammunition and fuel to troops in Europe during WWII.
He was employed for 35 years at General Battery Corporation in the Drawing and Design Department, retiring in 1980.
Paul was a member of Grace Alsace U.C.C., Hyde Park, where he served for 21 years on Consistory and was former Treasurer for 25 years. He also served as a Boy Scout leader for 45 years.
He was also a member of P.O.S.A. Camp 68, Hyde Park.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews: Mary E. (Hetrich), wife of Lewis Davis, of Sinking Spring; Salli J. (Trout), wife of George Reid, of Ottsville; Mark S. Hetrich of Alsace Township; Elaine Chrisman of Virginia; William, husband of Denise Trout, of Sinking Spring; Todd, husband of Laura Trout, of Lititz; Gene L. (Jost), wife of Bob Wentzel, of Allentown; James, husband of Ellen Kutzler, of CA; Kenneth, husband of Roberta Kutzler, of Cumru Township; Beth Ann, wife of David Bonkovich, of Hamburg; Carol Frost of West Reading; Patti, wife of Grady Whitaker, of OK; and Mary Ellen (Jost) Heiser of Phoenixville.
He was predeceased by a niece, Eleanor (Chrisman) Stoltzfus; a nephew, Paul Kutzler; and two sisters: Esther Jost and Dorthy Kutzler.
The family would like to thank all of the employees of O'Grady's Restaurant, Temple Family Restaurant and Walmart of Temple for all of the friendship and consideration that was shown to their Uncle Paul.
Services will be Monday, September 24th at 10:00 a.m. in Grace Alsace United Church of Christ, 2151 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the Church.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
