Paul F. Cataldo, 98, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026 at Country Meadows of Wyomissing, Pa. Born December 4, 1927 in Reading, Pa, he was the son of the late Leonard Cataldo Sr. and Winifred (Wolf) Cataldo. Paul’s wife Barbara Clary Cataldo predeceased him in 2008. He is also predeceased by son, Joseph D. and brothers Wallace and Leonard, all of Reading, Pa.
A graduate of Reading High School, Paul served in the US military in 3 wars and eventually set foot in 15 countries during his career. Drafted into the Army toward the end of WWII, Paul was stationed in Korea and was awarded a World War II Victory medal upon discharge. Recalled into the Army as an anti-aircraft mechanic for the Korean Conflict, he was, ironically, stationed in Japan. Upon discharge, Paul enlisted in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and retired 20 years later as a Master Sergeant. Most of his service was with the 193rd Special Operations Wing as an aerospace ground equipment supervisor. Following his military career, Paul owned “Cataldo Painting and Wallpapering” until he finally retired at age 92.
Paul and his faithful dog “Teddi the Terrible” served as a Therapy Dog team visiting local hospitals regularly. He also volunteered with the Reading Elks Lodge at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Hospital. He was a member of the Masonic Chandler Lodge No. 227 F&AM and served on the Muhlenberg Township Zoning Board. Paul and his wife were active members of the Holy Guardian Angels Church and he belonged to the People Over Fifty Senior Social Club in his later years.
Left to treasure Paul’s memory are his long-term partner Dr. Doris Turkes, nieces and nephews, neighbors and many friends.
Since November 2023, Paul has been a resident at Country Meadows of Wyomissing. The caring and supportive staff, and particularly the Connections Unit, enriched his life and provided daily encouragement for which both Paul and his friends were very grateful.
Burial will be private at Gethsemane Mausoleum on Kutztown Road in Laureldale. Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation (t2t.org).
Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc, West Reading is handling arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
