Patrick William Minnig, Sr., 78, of Muhlenberg Township died December 29, 2009 in The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
He was the husband of Irene JoAnn (Zielinski) Minnig whom he married September 20, 1958.
Born November 30, 1931 in Branchdale, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Henry Irvin and Mary Elizabeth (McGovern) Minnig.
Patrick was a graduate of Riley High School, Schuylkill County.
He was employed as a service technician with Bell Telephone Company in Pottsville and Reading for many years.
Patrick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.
Also surviving are four children: Patrick W. Minnig Jr. of Muhlenberg Township; Robert S. Minnig of Mohrsville, Larry N. Minnig of Muhlenberg Township and Sharon M. Jaroszenski of Temple.
Other survivors include a sister, Mary A. Minnick of California and a brother Jack Minnig of Levittown.
There are also five grandchildren surviving.
Patrick was predeceased by a brother Henry Minnig.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A visitation will be held from 8:30-9:30 in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
