Patricia McGrath Koch passed away on her 95th birthday on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Country Meadows in Wyomissing. She was the wife of Jack Harold Koch with whom she shared 42 years of marriage before his passing in 1993.
Born in Binghamton, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Alberta (Reedy) McGrath. After graduating high school, Patricia attended Reading Business Institute and embarked on a career as medical secretary at Reading Hospital and then at St. Joseph's Hospital. She met Jack at RBI and after their marriage in 1950 they raised four children together in Pennside.
A lifelong learner, Patricia returned to school later in life to become a certified medical records specialist and was active in Bible study classes at St. Ignatius RC Church where she was also active in their choir. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Patricia cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending music concerts and gardening.
Left to treasure her memory are daughter, Anne K. Hall, wife of Barry, of Mohnton; sons, James E. Koch of Allentown, and Thomas J. Koch, husband of Kelly, of Pennside; grandchildren: Jessi Koch, Kyle Hall (Samantha), Nina Koch, Jeremy Koch, David Hall, Allison Koch, Johanna Koch-Bruzgo (Zachary), and Marta Koch; great grandchildren: Antoinette Chase, Liam and Finley Hall; sister, Joan Warker; brother, John McGrath, III (Jacqueline) and daughter-in-law, LaRose Ray.
In addition to her husband, Jack, Patricia was predeceased by a son, Bruce W. Koch, and daughter-in-law, Marcella Koch, wife of James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 10:30 am in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 a.m. until the start of Mass. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Laureldale.
