Patricia A. Edelman, 83, died August 4, 2013 at the Highlands at Wyomissing surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved mother of five and wife of the late Paul H. Edelman, whom she married in 1954.
One of the six children of the late George S. and Ruth (Horton) Terry, Pat was born in Brockport, NY.
She attended The Brockport State Teachers College, now SUNY, where she worked a short time as an elementary teacher. She moved to Berks County when she married Paul.
Pat raised five children in Wyomissing where she was very involved in their lives and activities in the Wyomissing Area School District and the Wyomissing swim team.
An avid artist, seamstress, and connoisseur of fine linens, lace, porcelain and antiques, Pat was an active member in the cultural life of Berks County. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Yocum Institute for Arts Education, a member of the Junior League of Reading, and a volunteer at The Woman's Exchange.
In the early 1990's she started her own business selling fine vintage linens and lace.
Pat is survived by her five children: Paul T. Edelman, husband of Cynthia, Acton, MA, Janet R., wife of John Brendel, Sewickley, PA, Rebecca E., wife of Charles McKnight, Atlanta, GA, Peter T. Edelman, husband of Susan, Wyomissing, and George T. Edelman, husband of Julia, Magnolia, DE.
Additional survivors include thirteen grandchildren: Elisabeth Edelman, Andrew Edelman, husband of Jenna, Laura, wife of Vinny Oliveira, Joseph Brendel, Paul Brendel, Olivia Brendel, Cameron McKnight, Ellen McKnight, Charlie McKnight, Thomas Edelman, Caroline Edelman, Zoe Edelman, and Paul Edelman. A great grandson, Callan Edelman, also survives her.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday August 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd. Wyomissing, PA 19610. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Western PA Chapter, 810 River Ave Suite 100, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
