Patricia Ann (Gerhard) Bailey passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the care of Berks Heim at the age of 91. She was born in Harrisburg, PA, on December 16, 1932. She was the loving widow of Solon W. Bailey, Jr., who passed away on November 25, 2009. They were married on July 4, 1953, and shared 56 years of marriage.
She was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Anna I. (Ross) Gerhard, she grew up in Boyertown where her parents had a grocery store, Gerhard's Grocery.
She was a 1950 graduate of Boyertown High School and a 1954 graduate of Lankenau School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
Pat was a registered nurse at the former Community General Hospital, Berks Visiting Nurses Association, and retired from Kutztown Manor Nursing Home. As a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, she participated in the Safe Haven Lighthouse program and went on several mission trips. She and her husband and children enjoyed camping and traveling and were members of the JG Travelers Camping Club. She and Solon owned a home in Ocala, Florida and were snowbirds for many years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Paul J. Gerhard Jr.
She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose memory is treasured by her children, Solon "Snook" W. Bailey III, (Robin) and Deborah A. (Bailey) Ulrich (Rod); grandchildren, Jason Ulrich (Kate), Todd Ulrich (Grace), Jodie Bailey, and Travis Bailey; and great grandchildren, Angela Davis, Aden Harner, Xander Harner, Wren Ulrich, and Webb Ulrich.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Lukes Nurse Honor Guard, checks mailed to St. Lukes University Health Network Development Office, 801 Ostrum St, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
Funeral Services for Patricia will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with committal to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
