Patricia A. Smeal

Patricia A. (Cowder) Smeal, 77, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away December 28, 2016, in the Reading Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of Ronald L. Smeal whom she married March 22, 1958.

Born in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Otis W. and Wilma L. (Hendershot) Cowder.

Patricia was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and State Beauty School, Williamsport, where she received her cosmetology license.

She dedicated her life to taking care of her family.

Patricia was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary for over fifty years, serving as State President and many other offices. Patricia was very creative, she could sew, quilt, cook and loved making things for her family.

In addition to her husband, she is surived by her four children, Kemp L. Smeal, Los Angeles, CA; Amy K., wife of Kevin N. Fazler Sr., Watsontown, PA; Christopher D., husband of Isabel M. Smeal, Spotsylvania, VA; and Leslie A., wife of Ardath E. Colbert, Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her brother, David, husband of Carol Cowder, Lock Haven; sister-in-law, Alice Cowder, New Mexico; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Patricia was predeceased by her infant daughter, Joellyn Smeal and brother, Leo Cowder, husband of Alice, NM.

A Service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Ave, Reading, PA 19611. A viewing will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, and one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, 1194 Mackeyville Rd, Mill Hall, PA 17751 following services.
