Palmira Sue Miele

Palmira Sue Miele, cherished mother and beloved grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 78. She was the widow of Augustine A. Miele III, who passed away on February 2, 1999.

Born in Hardburly, KY, to the late Victor and Alice (Turner) Venier, she was one of six children. Sue graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in Tarrytown, NY, in 1965.

For several years she worked at TAU-DuPont Laboratories in New York and later for Alcon Surgical in Sinking Spring, but her primary calling was that of a caregiver. She was a devoted homemaker who spent her life nurturing and caring for her family, always placing their needs above her own. Her commitment to family extended to her mother, Alice, whom she lovingly cared for in her home for many years, demonstrating her unwavering dedication and compassion. When she became a grandmother, she was utterly devoted to her grandchildren.

In her later years, she enjoyed trips to the casino and games of bingo.

Left to treasure her memory are her sons, Augustine "Gus" A. Miele IV, husband of Kristin, with whom Sue resided, and Matthew V. Miele, husband of Rosanne, of Lake Mary, FL; grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Ana, Giana, Isabella, Dominic, and Sophia; and great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Maxwell. She is also survived by her sisters, Maryann Derivan, Julie Covert (widow of Frank), and Edith Bell (David); brothers, Matthew Venier (Joan) and Arthur Venier (Marion); as well as nieces, nephews, and their families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with committal to follow at Fairview Cemetery of Shillington. Guests are welcome to arrive for Mass beginning at 10:45 AM.
