Norman F. Krohn

Norman F. Krohn, 90, passed away on August 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joan Hess-Krohn. They were married in 1998 and spent 26 wonderful years together.

Born in Manitowoc, WI, on July 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Cecelia E. (Kirchen). Norm began his career in Engineering by earning his Bachelor's Degree of Electrical Engineering at Marquette University in 1957. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin where he earned his Master's Degree in 1958, and his Doctorate in 1962, a PhD in Electrical Engineering. He moved to South Bend, IN, where he taught Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He made the move to Reading, PA, to work at AT&T Bell Labs until his retirement.

Norm was a parishioner, and former organist, of St. Ignatius Loyola Church. He also previously served on the Board of Directors for the ARC of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed baking homemade Christmas cookies, reading, tinkering with electronics, working on jumbles and puzzles, and woodworking. He and Joan traveled all over the world and the United States, and he looked forward to his fishing trips in Canada. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Norm will always be remembered for his infectious smile and laughter, and his sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Joan, those cherishing his memory are his children: Beth Buiocchi (wife of Chuck), Jeff Krohn (husband of Cathy), Tim Krohn, and Brad Krohn; and his step-children: Maria Hohl (wife of Keith), Kevin Schulcz (husband of Meg), and Mark Schulcz (husband of Donna); as well as his six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Norm is predeceased by his step son, Joseph A. Schulcz, III.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Dr. Norman Krohn will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2600 St. Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609. A visitation will be held at the Church from 10 a.m. until the start of the Mass. Internment will be immediately following the Mass at Sinking Spring Cemetery, Sinking Spring, PA.
