Norman L. Fritz

Norman Lester "Mike" Fritz, Jr., 76, of Ruscombmanor Township, died March 5, 2009 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Evelyn Ruth "Lynn" (Armstrong) Fritz, whom he married April 11, 1959.

Born October 19, 1932 in Park Place, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Norman Lester, Sr. and Elva Mae (Foose) Fritz.

Mike was a 1951 graduate of Mahanoy Township High School, Schuylkill County.

He was employed as a welder and in the tool room by Dana Corporation, Reading for 36 years, retiring in 1994.

Mr. Fritz served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the Corps of Engineers.

He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, Mahanoy City.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Mark Allen, fiancé of Elizabeth J. Hall of South Heidelberg Township and Scott David Fritz of Ruscombmanor Township.

Also surviving is a brother, Cyril W., husband of Kathy Fritz of Florida; a sister, Judith A. (Fritz), wife of Bruce Yiengst of Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County and three half-sisters; Patricia (Igo) Dysput, Diane (Fritz) Lorrish and Ann Marie (Fritz) Hinkson, all of Reading.

Other survivors include a niece and Godchild, Jeanette (Yiengst) Amershek; nieces, Susan and Karen Mesch, Lori and Donna Fritz; nephews, Christopher Mesch and Bryan Yiengst and a grand-niece Allison Amershek.

Mike was predeceased by a brother, David Fritz and a half-brother, Daniel Fritz.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with Rev. Fred T. Crawford officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
