Nicholas Santilli, 85, of Old Mill Road, Wyomissing, died Dec. 14 at 5:25 p.m. in his residence.
His wife, Mae A. (Emerich) Santilli, died July 10, 1990.
Born in Bridgeport, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Theresa (Cieri) Santilli.
Santilli had been employed for over 65 years in the trucking industry, first for Motor Freight Express and later serving as general manager for Bingaman Motor Express.
He held various positions with Buch Express and J. B. Fowler, and was then served as vice president of Zeno Freightways Inc.
Santilli was former co-owner, vice president and general manager of Burgmeyer Brothers Inc. In 1981 he joined Plymouth Rock Transportation Corp. as a general manager, last working in June.
He was a member of Frieden's Church, Shartlesville.
Santilli was a 1934 graduate of Reading High School.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Santilli was a charter member of the Reading Traffic Club, and received the group's first Berks County Transportation Person of the Year award in 1977.
He was a charter treasurer of the Reading chapter of the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity in 1947.
Santilli served as past president of both the Wernersville Lions Club and Lebanon Valley Baseball League. He was also a charter member of the Moselem Springs Golf Club.
He was a master mason of Lodge No. 62, Free and Accepted Masons, and a life member of Citizens Hose Company No. 1, Wernersville.
Santilli is survived by a daughter, Nina M. (Santilli) Meter, Wyomissing.
Other survivors include two sisters, Anna (Santilli) Kauffman, Laureldale, and Josephine (Santilli) Trois, Leesport; and three brothers: Frank, Phoebe Berks, Wernersville; Rocco, Leesport; and John, Shoemakersville.
There are also two grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Frieden's Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing Wednesday evening 7 - 9 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.
