Nicholas Castellano, 98 of Temple, died October 24, 2009 in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township.

His wife, Esther (Schera) Catellano, died in January of 1995.

Born August 9, 1911 in Reading, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Magdalena (LaFata) Castellano.

Nicholas was the owner/operator of Nick and Rocco's Barber Shop, Reading for 50 years; he stayed in that profession for an additional 20 years, retiring in 2001 from Centre Square Barber Shop.

He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

Surviving is a daughter-in-law, Darlene M. (Wink) wife of Leo K. Clemens of Muhlenberg Towsnhip. Five grandchildren, Christopher, Vincent, Joseph and Constance Castellano; and Cheryl Williams; and nine great-grandchildren also survive him. In addition, there is a sister, Mary Gust of Longswamp Township; and many nieces and nephews.

Nicholas was predeceased by a son, Vincent Castellano on December 10, 1994; and siblings, Mike Castellano, Thomas Castellano, Joseph Castellano, Charles Castellano, Theresa Perrotto and Frances Cogan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the mass in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
