Nicholas Andrew Shestok, 97, of Reading, died December 1, 2011 at 4:25 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Marjorie Adele (Young) Shestok, who died June 2, 2000.
Born in Berwick, PA on January 19, 1914, he was a son of the late Peter and Anna (Meshinsky) Shestok.
Nicholas was a self employed Insurance Broker for 61 years, retiring in 1991.
He was also an assistant district manager with John Hancock Life Insurance Company, Reading, from 1942-1951 and the owner/operator of House of Security Insurance Agency from 1951-1995.
He was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Nicholas was on the advisory Board of Directors of Gethsemane Cemetery since 1986.
He was a Club Golf Champion at the Reading Country Club in 1953 and 1955. He was also the Seniors Champion three times and was the Henry Poe Clay Poe Member Guest Tournament with John Markel in 1959.
Nicholas was also the Senior Champion at the Berkshire Country Club in 1974.
He was a member of the Berks County Independent Insurance Agents; a charter member of the West Reading Lions Club and a 25 year member with the Elks B.P.O.E #115, Reading.
Nicholas is survived by two sons: Nicholas A. II, husband of Judith G. (Grabarek) Shestok of Orwigsburg and Peter M., husband of Carol Ann (Bucks) Shestok of Westford, MA.
Other survivors include a brother, Stephen Shestok of Bethlehem, five grandchildren: Susan, Matthew, Michael, Todd and Jason Shestok and five step grandchildren: Lizanne Conklin, John Long, Judy Kay Correll, Tricia Koehler and William Long.
There are also one great grandchild; 13 step great grandchildren and six step great great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two step grandchildren: Michael and James Long and eight siblings: Katie, Paul, Annie, John, Mary, Charles, Michael and Pauline.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am until time of Mass in the Chapel. Entombement will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospital, (School of Nursing Endowment Fund) 801 Ostrum St., Bethlehem, PA 18015.
