Nelson E. Eyrich, 86, of West Lawn, passed away on September 2, 2025, in the care of Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Virginia E. (Schuler) Eyrich, who passed away on September 14, 2024.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Lester and Esther (Barnett) Eyrich. Nelson graduated from Wilson High School in 1957. He married Ginny, the love of his life, on August 26, 1961, and shared 63 beautiful years together until her passing. Nelson worked at Carpenter Technology for over 35 years.
Nelson was a devoted member of St. Ignatius Loyola Church where he and his beloved wife served together as Eucharistic ministers. He was a generous, charitable person who, in addition to his service to the church, volunteered his time delivering Meals on Wheels.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, he played baseball and basketball in his younger years and was an avid college football fan. He especially loved cheering on his children and grandchildren at their games, always proud to be in the stands. He enjoyed road trips and traveling with his wife, and he never passed up a good game of bingo or a visit to the casino.
Left to treasure Nelson's memory are his children: Lisa M. Eyrich of West Lawn; Tina M. Nestro, wife of Eugene, of Roanoke, VA; and Glenn M. Eyrich, husband of Kylah, of Daniel Island, SC; and grandchildren: Brandon, Kelsey, Noah, Connor, Brooke, Gabrielle, and Garrett. In addition to his wife, Ginny, and parents, Nelson was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Eyrich.
Nelson honored God and his family through a life of hard work, compassion, and devotion as a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be forever missed.
