Ned Lee Lorah

Ned Lee Lorah passed away on December 22, 2014 in his Pike Township home.

He was the husband of Doris (Eyrich) Lorah, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

He was born and raised on the family farm in Lobachsville and proud of his Pike Township heritage and the village in which he lived most of his life.

Born in 1935, Ned was a son of the late Gideon and Frances (Hoch) Lorah and brother of the late Mary Hertzog, Agnes Oswald, Frederick, Edward, Linwood, Harold, Ira, and Roy Lorah; along with surviving brother Ralph. There are many nieces and nephews, among them Pat Kretz and Ronald Oswald.

He was a 1953 graduate of Oley Valley High School and veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lobachsville.

Ned was a carpenter and builder throughout his life. A fine craftsman, he enjoyed restoration work most of all – particularly of his own home and barn. He retired to farming alongside his wife, and much enjoyed the company of his granddaughter and the companionship of his beloved springer spaniel. He appreciated fireflies over fireworks . . . a man of quiet nature and genuine character.

Ned is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Lynn; and granddaughter Kathryn.

Services were held privately in the home.
