Nancy Cole Morrissey

Nancy Cole Morrissey, 92, passed away on March 18, 2023, at the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Eugene "James" Morrissey. They married June 23, 1953 and shared 68 wonderful years together.

Born in Highland Park, MI, she was the daughter of the late Lyle S. and Mildred (Packard) Cole. Nancy graduated from Oberlin College before attending Wayne State University to become a Registered Occupational Therapist. She worked as an occupational therapist for Easter Seal and was a forming member of the Threshold Rehabilitation Services. In her role at these organizations, Nancy had a chance to work with many people with special needs. Her deep well of compassion and encouragement touched the lives of those she cared for.

Nancy was a member of the Reading Monthly Meeting of Friends where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her favorite part was doing arts and crafts with the kids. Nancy was an artist specializing in sculpture and sketching. This talent led her to be one of the founding members of the Art Plus Gallery.

Left to treasure Nancy's memory are her husband, James, three sons: Joseph Morrissey of Reading; Shawn Morrissey (Christine) of Campbell, CA; and Brion Morrissey (Jackie) of Exeter; seven grandchildren: Miguel, Charles, Matthew, Raymond (Abigail), Cali, and Kyle, and one great-grandson, Mario.

Nancy was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Claire.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated June 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Reading Monthly Meeting of Friends.
