Nancy Lynn Mcdevitt

Nancy Lynn McDevitt, 65, formerly of Shillington, died February 11, 2014, in The Highlands at Wyomissing.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Edna T. (Spehar) McDevitt.

She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1966, West Chester University in 1970 with a BS in Education and later earned her Master's Equivalent.

Nancy was a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Amanda Stout Elementary School for 30 years retiring in 2001. She was a creative teacher, using her gifts of music, art and other talents to make a difference in students' lives. Nancy was a member of the prayer shawl ministry at Immanuel UCC, Shillington, a volunteer at the Mifflin Community Library, delivered Meals on Wheels and began the associate's program at Precious Blood Convent.

She is survived by many family members and close friends who were extremely supportive throughout her life and illness. Nancy was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608; entombment will follow in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
