Nancy M. Freeman Zimmerman

Nancy Marie (Oswald) Freeman Zimmerman, 69, of Spring Township, lost her battle with cancer January 12, 2008 at 2:35 am in the Reading Hospital, where she had been for one day.

She was the wife of William Walter Zimmerman of Spring Township. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Albert Freeman, who died July 31, 1986.

Born in West Reading on October 10, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Jacob James and Josephine Marie (Borst) Oswald.

She was a 1956 graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Nancy was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, West Reading.

She was employed a number of years in the housekeeping department with the Reading Hospital.

Nancy was a past secretary for the West Reading Fire Company Relief Association.

She enjoyed camping and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nancy is also survived by five children; Joseph W. husband of Lisa M. (Wolszczenski) Freeman of Bethel Township; Christine A. (Freeman) Boud of Spring Township; Susan M. (Freeman) wife of James E. Young Jr. of Laureldale; Lori A. (Freeman) wife of Alan M. Hiester of Kenhorst and Karen A. (Freeman) wife of Michael D. Hertzog of Wyomissing.

Other survivors include two siblings, David C. husband of Betty Oswald of Luttrell, TN and Ronald J. husband of Diane B. (Burgess) Oswald of Java, VA.

There are also eight grandchildren; Melissa, Elizabeth, Joseph Jr., Michael, Dean Jr., Nathan, Zachary and Natalie and two great grandchildren; Brandt and Savannah.

Services will be held Tuesday at 6:45 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 5:30 pm until time of services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
