Nancy L. Zimmerman, 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Berks Heim. She was the loving wife of Howard Zimmerman, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Belvin and Bertha (Haas) Seidel. After graduating Reading High School (Class of 1953), Nancy completed a nursing degree at the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an LPN until she started her family. Later, Nancy embarked on a long career of data processing for the administration of the Reading School District, retiring in 1998.
Nancy was an active member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Reading, volunteering her time to assist with church finances, luncheons, and holiday events. She and her husband enjoyed watching baseball together and taking stadium bus tours. She was an avid reader, a wonderful baker, and talented at knitting as well. Due to her kind and generous spirit, she maintained a very dear circle of friends that gathered regularly for lunches and card games.
She is survived by son Scott E. Taylor (Shelly) of AR; daughter Candis Hummel (Douglas) of FL; and stepsons David K. Zimmerman (Diane) of Lower Gwynedd, and Craig A. Zimmerman (Gina) of SC. Her memory will be cherished by granddaughters: Chasity Cooper of Pottstown, Kirstie Anderson (Jason) of Wyomissing, Christine Griffin, Lauren Brady, and Amanda Sheroff; grandsons: Dr. Chad Hummel (Mary), Brett Hummel (Jessica), Gavin Taylor and Paul Taylor. She is survived by many great grandchildren, as well.
