Nancy Elaine Beissel, 76, passed away unexpectantly surrounded by family on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the loving wife of William Harold Beissel, Jr. They were celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary just two days prior to her passing.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was a daughter of the late George and Florence (Moyer) Yeager. After graduating Schuylkill Valley High School in 1965, Nancy worked diligently as a sewing machine operator for Wright's Knitwear for many years. More recently, she worked in housekeeping at the Reading Hospital until her retirement. Above all, she was devoted to her family and dearly loved by many. Being a wife, mother, and Grammy were her most important roles. Nancy was a great friend, listener, and confidant. She loved joking around and having fun. Nancy truly was a blessing to all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Bill, Nancy is survived by her son, William H. Beissel III, husband of Wendy; daughter, Karen Raugh, wife of Andrew; grandchildren: Megan Beissel, Brittany Emmel (husband Thayer) and Derek Anderson (partner Tommy Malek); great grandson, Dominic Emmel; sisters: Mary Lou Berger (husband of the late Robert), Doris Rismiller (husband Gary), and Faye Luckenbill; brothers: Norman Yeager, Thomas Yeager (wife Susan), Richard Yeager (wife Amy) and David Yeager (wife Hilda), and many nieces and nephews. Nancy always enjoyed being with her family. She always looked forward to family get togethers and spending time with loved ones. Nancy could often be seen enjoying breakfast with her family at the Centerport Fire Company where in the summer she volunteered to make sandwiches for their fundraisers for many years.
Nancy loved her cats. She took care of her indoor cats as well as outdoor cats. She also doted on her grandkitties. Nancy enjoyed driving her "antique" Trailblazer and driving it to various destinations. She was also fond of "playing on her phone," reading, and working on her puzzle books.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 7:00 pm in The Bridge Church, 3561 Old U.S. 22 Hamburg, PA 19526. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:30 pm until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Nancy's memory to the Steven Yeager Swimming Scholarship at the Berks County Community Foundation, 237 Court Street, Reading, PA 19601 or to the Central Berks Fire Company, 111 Callow Hill Rd, Centerport, PA 19516.
