Nancy Ann "Chubby" Nardy, 84, of Exeter Township, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Phoebe Berks in Wernersville. Born December 15, 1941, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Sophia (Barna) Verdone.
Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School. Upon graduating, she was employed by the former Reading Trust Company and the Berks County Probation Office before joining the United States Federal Probation Office, retiring after 30 years of service.
Nancy was a wonderful cook and a gracious hostess who loved welcoming family and friends to her table. As a talented needleworker and member of the Embroiderers' Guild of Berks County, she created beautiful pieces that live on in the homes of her family, where many are proudly displayed. Chubby was especially close to her nieces and nephews and their children, and she delighted in spoiling them with her home cooking, special trips, candy, and, her personal favorite, ice cream. But more than anything, she loved sharing good conversation and plenty of laughs with the people she loved.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard Nardy; two sisters, Constance Judith "Judy" (Verdone) Smith, of New Jersey, and Brenda (Verdone) Thren, wife of Larry Thren, of Oley; her sister-in-law, Anne (Nardy) Tirdell; five nieces and five nephews; and her many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 17th at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 151 N. 9th St., Reading. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM before Mass. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St.Paul RCC, Reading at address above. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangments. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
