Myrtle M. Ney

Myrtle Mary (Umbenhauer) Ney, 92, formerly of Riverview Park, died January 27, 2012 in Frey Village, Middletown, Dauphin County.

She was the wife of Edward A. Ney who died August 1, 1976.

Born March 11, 1920 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Ockenlander) Umbenhauer.

Myrtle was a 1937 graduate of Shillington High School and a graduate of The Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

She was employed as a Registered Nurse with Dr. David Hoffman, OB/GYN, at Reading Hospital for 12 1/2 years, retiring in 1980.

Myrtle was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Surviving are two children: Patricia M. (Ney), wife of Emmett Venett of Milford, DE and David E., husband of Marilyn A. (Miller) Ney of Harrisburg.

Myrtle is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grand son: Stacy V. (Venett) Wright, her husband Stephen and their son Brian; Steven E Venett and his wife Ashley; Joshua E Ney and his wife Gina; and Emilie A Ney.

Also surviving is a brother, Elmer R. Umbenhauer of Cape May Court House, NJ.

Myrtle was predeceased by two brothers, Harry Umbenhauer and Albert W. Umbehauer.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
