Myrtle C. Fidler

Myrtle C. Fidler, 90, formerly of Laureldale and Hearthstone Assisted Living, Temple, passed away on December 20th at Phoebe Berks Health Center, Wernersville, where she has been residing since February 6th.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Allan and Mabel E. (Dillinger) Irwin and her step-father Howard Irwin.

She was the wife of Lester F. Fidler whom she married 55 years ago on June 30, 1951.

Myrtle was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School in 1934. In 1936 she completed a two year program at Kutztown State Teachers College and began teaching elementary school in Muhlenberg schools. In 1948 she graduated from Kutztown with a B.S., she later did graduate work at Duke University and continued to teach elementary and special education in Muhlenberg until her retirement in 1978.

She was an active community volunteer for numerous organizations: Rosedale U.C.C, the Muhlenberg Woman's Club and the Muhlenberg Association of School Retirees.

Myrtle is survived by one step-brother, William E. husband of Mariam R. Irwin, Lancaster.

She was predeceased by two step-brothers, Howard A. Irwin and George H. Irwin, and one sister Mabel Allan.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 30th at 11:00 a.m at Rosedale United Church of Christ, 1301 Bellevue Ave., Laureldale, Pa 19605. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
