Myrle E. Burggraf

Myrle Esther (Evert) Burggraf, 94, formerly of West Lawn, passed away August 7, 2017, in Mifflin Center.

Her husband, Daniel R. Burggraf, Sr., died on August 9, 1990. They married on August 7, 1943.

Born in Hazelton, she was a daughter of the late Archie and Carrie (Brocious) Evert.

She was a graduate of Hazelton High School.

Myrle was an active member of the West Lawn United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She served in many different ways including teaching Sunday School, leading the Youth Fellowship along with her husband, and contributing on many church administrative committees

She was a homemaker who was dedicated to her family; one of the best gifts she gave her children was staying at home to raise them. Being children of the depression and WWII, Myrle and Daniel decided to make their home a 'little piece of heaven' and worked hard to do so. She later worked part-time as a secretary for many years.

Myrle will be remembered for many things such as: a passionate docent at the Reading Museum; an avid lover of the outdoors especially Blue Marsh; swimming; line dancing; and exercising at the Wernersville Senior Center.

Myrle is survived by four children: Linda K., wife of Scott Widmer, East Fallowfield, PA; Susan J., wife of Michael Beaver, Denver, PA; Daniel R., Jr., husband of Gloria Burggraf, Tomball, TX; and Diane C., wife of Bruce Wollyung, Laureldale. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by three siblings: Byron Evert, Marian Evert and Arlene Hawke and one great-granddaughter, Janet Marie Wollyung.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Myrle's name may be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, West Lawn, PA 19609. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
