Morton ("Mort") J. Brown, 82, of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Shillington, Pa, passed away on May 2nd at Coastal Carolina Medical Center, Hardeeville, SC.

He was the beloved husband of Bernice Marie (Loder) Brown, whom he married in 1948. They were married for 59 years.

Born in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Arthur and Rebecca (Silverman) Brown.

He was a graduate of Easton High School, Easton, PA, and completed coursework at Rider College, NJ.

Mort was employed for A.W. Golden, Inc., Reading as a Sales Manager and at Fortna & Co. as a National Sales Director. He was also Vice- President of sales for Spencer Manufacturing, Ohio. As a long- time resident of Reading, Mort gained wide recognition and respect from the community. He was a member of the Reading Optimists and Knights of Columbus, and was an active member of St. John Baptist de La Salle Catholic Church in Shillington.

After his retirement, he enjoyed meeting and befriending many local, national and international dignitaries as a driver for Lifestyle Limousine. In 2004, Mort and his wife, Bernice, moved to Hilton Head Sun City, SC to enjoy the beauty and wonders of the Lowcountry. During this time he was a lector for St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, SC and participated in several activities in Sun City.

He voluntarily enlisted in the US Army, nobly serving with Company B, 313th Infantry regiment, 79th Infantry Division in World War II, where he experienced combat action as part of the D- Day invasion forces in Normandy, France, June 1944. In 1946, he was honorable discharged with a rank of Private First Class.

Mort is survived by three loving daughters, Sister Kathleen Brown, I.H.M., Runnemede, NJ, Dianne L. (Brown) wife of J. Douglas Rogers, North Wales, PA, and Barbara Brown Steinmetz, Woodstock, GA.

He is also survived by one sister, Zelma (Brown) wife of Samuel Pugliese, Wernersville, PA.

Mort was a loving grandfather to four grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Snyder, and Daniel and Andrew Steinmetz.

He is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Morton is predeceased by one sister, Shirley, and two brothers, Charles and Maynard Brown.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist de la Salle, 420 Holland Street, Shillington, Pa 19607. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum, Muhlenberg Township. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. till the Mass time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Baptist de La Salle at the above address. Edward J.
