Monica E. Kane

Monica E. (Nierle) Kane, 92, formerly of Spring Township, died November 18, 2008 in Manor Care, Sinking Spring.

She was the wife of Arthur T. Kane, to whom she married on October 9, 1948.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Catherine (O'Laughlin) Nierle.

She was a graduate of Reading Catholic High School.

Mrs. Kane was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

She was employed for 30 years by Penn Optical retiring as a supervisor in 1981.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Thomas J., husband of Kathryn L. (Yaklich) Kane, Spring Twp.; three grandchildren, Mary K., wife of Andrew Kaufmann, Elizabeth A., fiancee of David Columbo and Patrick M. Kane; and a great-grandson, Cole A. Kaufmann.

Monica was predeceased by two brothers, James Nierle and Edward Nierle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J.
