Miriam M. Burkhart

Miriam M. Burkhart, 93 formerly of Shoemakersville died in Schuylkill Medical Center, South on Thursday, July 25th. Her husband John L. Burkhart died January 23, 1985. Miriam was born in Albany Township and was the daughter of the late Anson and Emma (Ely) Stern. She worked as a custodian at Perry Elementary School, Shoemakersville for 20 years, retiring in 1985. Miriam was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. Miriam is survived by 2 grandchildren, Kenneth Burkhart and Amy S. Burkhart, both of Pottsville and 2 great grandchildren, John T. and Emma L. Fenstermacher. She was predeceased by her son Dennis D. Burkhart in 2006. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th St. Hamburg, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service.
