Mildred Velez, 55, passed away on December 11, 2024, at the Reading Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 26, 1969 in Hoboken, NJ, from Puerto Rican heritage, she was the daughter of the late Pedro Kuilan and Ana M. Kuilan (Gonsalez). Mildred did high school and attended college before devoting her life to caring for her family.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred. Mildred lived a life defined by faith, resilience, and love. Mildred was the beloved wife of Luis G Velez, with whom she shared a life filled with devotion and companionship. She was a proud mother of three children, two daughters and one son, who were her greatest joy, and a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to her days. She shared a special bond with her mother, whom she loved dearly, and cherished every moment with her family.
Despite facing health challenges throughout her life, Mildred's strong will and determination never wavered. She lived each day with grace and purpose, embracing life's blessings. A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Mildred found her strength and comfort in her relationship with God. She was a dedicated member of her church and found joy in listening to gospel music, which uplifted her spirit.
Mildred had a love for shopping and always enjoyed finding a great bargain. Her radiant personality, faith-filled heart, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her. Her legacy of strength, love, and faith will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Mildred was a woman of faith, especially enjoying Christian music. She enjoyed playing Uno cards with her kids and going to amusement parks. Mildred will be remembered for her beautiful soul. She was loving, forgiving, a good woman, and a great wife. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Luis G. Velez, her children: Kayla Diaz, Samuel Williams, and Anna Shoemaker, siblings: Michael, David, Peter, Jorge, and Ana Rosa, grandchildren: Kaiden Diaz, Melody Diaz, Josiah Paris-Williams, and Avalee Shoemaker. She is preceded in death, by her sister Isabel B. Kuilan.
The funeral service for Mildred will be held Wednesday, December 18th, from 9:00a.m. to 12:45p.m. at the God's Worship & Praise Temple located on 459 Schuykill Ave. Reading PA.,19601, with Minister Ila M. Smith.
