Mildred Trayer

Mildred (Hinsley) Trayer, 84, of South Heidelberg Township, died March 6, 2011, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Her husband, Carl H. Trayer, died January, 2004.

Born in Overton-On-Dee, North Wales, Great Britain, she was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Mary (Reeves) Hinsley.

She received her GED from Reading High School.

Mildred was a sewing supervisor from 1948-1978 for various clothing stores, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring.

Mildred was on the first ship that arrived in the United States that carried European brides of U.S. Servicemen in 1946. Fifty years later, in 1996, she became an American Citizen.

Mildred served as a volunteer for numerous services in the Reading area, including The Olivet's Boys and Girls Club as a ceramics teacher.

Mildred is survived by two sons, Terrance D., husband of Lee Trayer, Coudersport, PA and Brian A. husband of Anita Trayer, with whom she resided; two brothers, Raymond Hinsley and Michael Hinsley and a sister, Marion Webber, all of Bristol, England; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Mildred was predeceased by a brother, Donald, husband of Lucy Hinsley, of Bristol, England and a sister, Muriel Hinsley.

Services will be Friday at noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Entombment will be in Pleasant View Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 11:00 a.m. to noon in the funeral home.
